Adam was in charge?!?
“My wife was upset because I would not allow her to get her nails done, but, you see, Adam was in charge. The man has the rule over his wife. If a man wakes up at 3 a.m. hungry for a fried egg sandwich, then she has to get up and make it for him….” – Anonymous Pastor
Seriously!?!
The preacher who said this was the assistant pastor of our church, and I heard him make the above quoted statement to the entire congregation during a Sunday service, 25 years ago, … with not a peep from anyone. It shames me to say it, but not even from me, at the time.
This kind of attitude is still perpetuated by preachers today and is what comes from churches promoting the Danvers Statement, which was published 38 years ago and is what contemporary complementarianism is based on.
Thankfully, I have been told by pastors that they rejected complementarianism after reading my book.
The Danvers Statement is the spawn of the Council for Biblical Manhood and Womanhood (CBMW), who have been spewing their poison for 38 years, since 1987, when they first published their statement.
A former CBMW president stated that God has staked EVERYTHING on Men. I made a YouTube short about this (one-and-a-half-minute video).
CBMW is promoted and supported financially by thousands of churches worldwide and by Christian media of every kind. Here are just a few: the giant SBC and their many churches, Bible colleges, book stores, and other affiliates (along with most other Baptist conferences and most every other Christian denomination and their Bible colleges, affiliates, etc.), well-known Christian television personalities, Movie makers such as the Kendrick Brothers (100% of their movies, Facing the Giants [I still love Facing the Giants], Courageous [read my review to see why I can never watch that movie again], The Forge), Pure Flix Streaming, Moody Bible Institute, Moody Bible Radio, Everything Moody, Cross Way Christian Bookstores, Christianity Today, famous authors and pastors include John Piper, Charles Stanley, John MacArthur, Randy Alcorn, Max Lucado, Nancy Liegh DeMoss, etc. … and this is just the tip of the iceberg. The list goes on.
Is there not a cause?
